Overview
Roots is a financial literacy app designed as a capstone project for my UX and Visual Design certification at the University of Washington. After completing the UX research, I led the visual and interaction design process, creating wireframes, prototypes, branding, and a comprehensive style guide.
Problem
Many first-time earners and young adults struggle to understand financial concepts and make informed decisions about saving, investing, and budgeting. They need an intuitive platform that simplifies financial education while making it actionable and engaging.
Solution
Roots uses playful, interactive elements and a clear visual hierarchy to make financial literacy approachable. From bite-sized lessons to simulated real-world financial decisions, the app empowers users to gain confidence in managing money while providing a cohesive and enjoyable learning experience.
